Susan Fellin, DSS Payroll & Billing Manager, Retires

Recently, DSS senior executives joined headquarters staff at City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill in Westbury, Long Island, to wish a valued member of the corporate support team a happy retirement.

Susan Fellin, Payroll & Billing Manager at DSS corporate headquarters in Rockville Centre, has retired after eight years with the company.

“My time at DSS was a wonderful experience,” Susan says. “It wasn't an easy decision to leave, because I love the people that I work with, but I needed to take time for myself, while I am still healthy and can enjoy doing the things I like.”

Susan joined DSS back in 2016. At the time, the company deployed around 250 security officers. During the time Susan was at DSS, the company experienced dramatic growth, adding scores of high-profile clients and expanding its geographic footprint. Today, DSS has more than 1,000 security professionals deployed across four states.

As Payroll & Billing Manager, Susan experienced that expansion firsthand, working hard to ensure that DSS’ growing number of employees were always paid on time and that clients were billed accurately. In a company growing as fast as DSS, that is no small task.

“We were always very busy,” Fellin recalls. “But it was also great to see the company grow. DSS is a fantastic place to work. It’s a special feeling to be part of a real team. Not every company is like that. Many of the places I worked at before DSS weren’t focused on their team members and the difference was like night and day compared to DSS.”

Susan also led DSS’ participation in last year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The event raised money to combat the neurodegenerative disease, which afflicts more than six million Americans. Fighting Alzheimer’s is a personal commitment for Fellin, who lost her mother, Adeline, to the disease.

Looking forward, Fellin says she has no specific plans for retirement, except to enjoy herself. “I just plan to enjoy life, enjoy my friends, my family, and have time for what I always wanted to do,” she explains.

DSS wishes Susan a long and happy retirement. We thank her for her many years of service to DSS.
