NCPD Law Enforcement Exploring Holds 2025 Awards Event
DSS was proud to be a sponsor of the Nassau County Law Enforcement Exploring program’s 2025 Persons of the Year Dinner.
This year’s event was held at the Jericho Terrace banquet hall in Mineola, Long Island, on October 14.
Attendees included Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Nassau County Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder, among many other county and police officials. DSS President and COO Mario J. Doyle, CPP, who is Chairman of the Exploring program, also took part in the ceremony.
During the dinner, the Exploring program recognized several individuals who have contributed to both law enforcement and the Long Island community, including Kenneth W. Lack, Chief of the Brookville Police Department, who received the Theodore Roosevelt Award; Joseph Guerra, Deputy Chief, Patrol Division, Nassau County Police Department, who received the Law Enforcement Emissary Award; and Christopher A. Maleno Senior Vice President, Chubb Group, who was named Person of the Year. Mr. Maleno is being recognized for his distinguished career and commitment to public safety initiatives.
The Exploring program provides training and a wide range of educational programs about the goals and mission of law enforcement agencies for young adults. The program seeks to develop leadership skills, while encouraging independent thinking, good judgment, and a commitment to improving society. It also offers young people a path to pursue careers in law enforcement.
Mario Doyle has served as Director of the Exploring program since 2006, when he was appointed to the position by the Nassau County Police Commissioner. Since then, the Exploring program has grown into a landmark outreach program building ties between law enforcement and Long Island communities and sponsoring scholarships for young people pursuing careers in law enforcement.
This annual dinner is the main fundraiser for the Exploring program and its vital training and leadership development initiatives.
DSS is proud to support the Exploring program and its critical educational work, helping to build the next generation of leaders for Long Island and our nation. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for Long Island and our nation.
Congratulations to all the 2025 award winners!
