DSS is enormously proud to name the recipient of its 2026 Scholarship: Juliet Givoni.
We received many entries filled with impressive personal stories, outstanding achievements, and a strong commitment to serving others. Although the high level of talent made the decision difficult, our Scholarship Selection Committee ultimately chose Juliet as this year’s scholarship recipient.
Juliet has made a significant impact on her community and has consistently shown a fierce dedication to helping others. In her application essay, she explained that she adopted the important habit of listening to different points of view instead of making assumptions, and she used this approach to rally support for helping others in her community.
To make a direct impact, Juliet co-founded a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. She helped raise thousands of dollars and enlisted dozens of fellow students to build safe, affordable housing for local people in need.
This initiative showed her compassion and leadership, as well as her ability to bring people together to pursue a common goal. These characteristics reflect the core values on which DSS was founded.
Announced in early 2026, the DSS Scholarship program supports our employees and their families by providing financial help to the children and grandchildren of current DSS team members.
Students who are currently enrolled in, or intend to enroll in, an accredited college, university, or trade school, and who have parents or grandparents who are DSS employees may apply for a scholarship. Under the program, DSS will award $5,000 scholarships to support higher education in any academic subject or vocational field.
The scholarship was created to highlight students who show outstanding character, resilience, and self-improvement. It recognizes rising scholars who serve as positive role models, work to support their communities, and actively support charitable activities that assist people in need.
Juliet embodies the spirit and vision of this program, and we are proud to support her as she proceeds with her education. We sincerely thank all applicants who took the time to share their stories with us, and the Scholarship Selection Committee for carefully assessing each application.
