DSS Helps Keep People
Warm this Winter
During November, DSS team members rallied to help disadvantaged people by donating coats and other winter garments.
By November 21, the DSS Winter Coat Drive had received around 400 coats, gloves, and scarves. To aid the effort, team members dropped off warm clothing at each DSS office.
All clothing collected during the drive was donated to The Interfaith Nutrition Network (The INN), often locally referred to by the name of its flagship facility, The Mary Brennan INN.
Founded in 1983, The INN is the largest private, non-profit social service organization serving needy people across Long Island. Its mission is to transform lives by addressing hunger, homelessness, and profound poverty through awareness, action, and generosity.
Starting with a single soup kitchen run out of a local church, The INN now operates a wide- reaching network of soup kitchens, including The Mary Brennan INN in Hempstead, emergency shelters, and a long-term housing program for families and veterans facing homelessness.
DSS is proud to participate in charitable activities like the Winter Coat Drive. Giving back to local communities is a foundational value of our company.
The Winter Coat Drive — along with our Spring Food Drive, collaboration with Toys for Tots and other charitable programs — reflects our ongoing commitment to helping underprivileged families, individuals, and children across the regions we serve.
The hundreds of items donated during the Winter Coat Drive symbolize the DSS Team’s collective dedication to assisting those in need and improving the world around us.
DSS thanks everyone who donated warm clothing during the drive.
