Once again, the DSS team has collected thousands of pounds of food and other essential items to help needy families across Long Island.

During the 2025 Spring Food Drive, a total of 2,547 lbs. of items were donated, marking the largest amount collected in the four years DSS has held its annual food drive.

Last year, DSS team members collected 2,338 lbs. of donated items, topping the 1,770 lbs. donated in 2023 and the 1,356 lbs. in 2022.

Items collected during the annual food drive are donated to Long Island Cares / The Harry Chapin Food Bank. Long Island Cares supports child nutrition programs, food pantries, senior programs, shelters, soup kitchens, and veteran programs across Long Island, as well as local food banks in Freeport and Valley Stream.

Vice President of Human Resources Colette DePasquale and HR Specialist Fazeela Kahn ran this year’s food drive.

Giving back to the communities in which our team lives and works is a core principle for DSS We are proud to participate in the annual food drive and to support worthy causes like Long Island Cares / The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
