Recently, DSS executives, managers, and other team members donned bowling shoes to compete for a great cause: the chance to choose which charities would receive a major corporate donation. Our annual Bowling for Charity tournament has become a highly-anticipated company event, bringing everyone together for friendly competition, teamwork, and giving back.
This year’s tournament featured impressive talent and lots of strikes, but one team stood out and took first place. Congratulations to the winners: Director of Corporate Support Services Maria Corvino, Payroll & Billing Manager Bramny Stoddart, NYC Operations Manager Christopher Guzman, and Account Manager Michael Rodgers.
The winning team is now working together to choose which organizations will receive $10,000 in donations from DSS, up substantially from last year’s $7,500 prize. In prior years, the winning teams have supported groups such as Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital and THON, a student-run charity focused on childhood cancer research and outreach.
The team competition was followed by a bowl-off featuring the tournament’s highest-scoring individual bowlers, vying for an all-expenses-paid trip to the Caribbean. The contest was fierce, but ultimately Christopher Guzman triumphed, winning the tropical getaway.
The Bowling for Charity tournament has been a favorite DSS tradition for five years. It began with a $5,000 prize, which was increased to $7,500 in 2024 to make an even bigger difference to the charities chosen by the winning team.
This annual event reflects what matters most to DSS as a company: showing compassion and working to help those in need. The money donated by the winning team will help improve the lives of others.
